We are seeking candidates for a Trust Officer position open for Mariner Trust Company.  Mariner Trust Company offers corporate trustee and estate advisory services for clients of Mariner Wealth Advisors and multiple Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs).   The Trust Officer will be responsible for the administration and compliance of trusts while maintaining excellent communication with multiple registered investment advisors (RIAs) who refer clients to the trust company.  This role will also work closely with wealth advisors, their clients, and attorneys to review trust documents prior to acceptance and to summarize estate plans for clients and develop presentation materials, as needed, related to various estate planning topics.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review and administer trusts in accordance with the document and governing statutes.
  • Prepare new account openings and closings by reviewing the trust instrument and all necessary documents.
  • Fulfill and coordinate fiduciary duties including, but not limited to, discretionary distributions, tax preparation and account maintenance.
  • Complete administrative account reviews in coordination with wealth advisors.
  • Educate and build relationships with wealth advisors, their clients and estate planning professionals.
  • Assist with the coordination of investment, financial, estate, and income tax planning to support wealth advisors in achieving specific wealth transfer and philanthropic objectives for their clients.
  • Remain current on relevant tax law and wealth transfers strategies and communicate to various user groups within the firm; develop technical content to educate wealth advisors and clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and their wealth advisors on all trust administration and asset management objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that could be incurred in connection with a trust or an estate, consistent with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Participate alongside business development officers to assist with client prospecting efforts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of trust administration experience with strong knowledge and proven technical proficiency in administering various irrevocable trusts.
  • In-depth understanding of complex estate planning strategies and experience
  • summarizing estate plans, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or business-related field; Juris Doctorate (JD) preferred.
  • Other designations preferred: CPA, CFP®, CTFA.
  • Experience with administration of family limited partnerships, closely-held businesses, estates settlement and special needs trusts, preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills.
